Education Web Site
Welcome to the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Adult Basic and
Literacy Education (ABLE) program. Congratulations on choosing a significant
goal ... achieving your GED or taking ESOL coursework.
We have several sites which meet either in the morning, afternoon or the evening.
The following pages identify each time and location. There is no fee for any
class. All classes are free, and books are provided. An initial
assessment to determine skills level is part of the enrollment process.
The orientation process is completed in three class sessions. During this
time you will be given a skills inventory on math, reading and language.
ESOL students will complete a variety of assessments including a BEST oral exam,
listening assessment, grammar test, CASAS reading assessment and a writing sample.
You will meet one-on-one with a teacher who will work with you on goal setting
and assess your test scores, detailing what areas need review. Orientation
is done once a month and GED students must attend the first day of orientation.
Classes begin in September and continue until June. If you would like further
information about getting your GED, please call Saundra at (216) 371-7138.
