This
two-year, Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certified
program, is designed to develop entry level auto mechanic
skills in the maintenance and repair of both domestic
and foreign automobiles. Each student, beginning in the
junior year, will learn shop mathematics, science as
related to auto mechanics, auto electricity, sketching
and reading diagrams and schematics. Additionally, they
learn to read and use automotive service manuals and
technical bulletins. Shop and customer vehicles will
provide opportunities in engine repair, transmission
service, brake, fuel, steering, suspension, steering
alignment, ignition, exhaust systems diagnosis, repair
and overhaul. Students will be scheduled into this course
for 3 periods daily and if successfully completed, earn
3 units of credit each year. Second semester seniors
who meet the requirements have the opportunity for early
job placement. Senior students are encouraged to take
the A.S.E. certification tests. Students are required
to join SKILLS USA, a student leadership organization.
