This
one-year senior program consists of three components;
the classroom, the cooperative work experience and the
club activity. The course curriculum is comprised of
advertising, e-commerce, merchandising, marketing, human
and public relations and serves as a background for post
secondary training or advancement in a business or retail
career. Practical experience is gained in how to manage
a checkbook, buy or lease a car, and navigate the stock
market and the internet. The cooperative work experience
teaches students interviewing skills, how to create a
resume, complete a career search, set goals and obtain
and maintain a job related to the retail field. The third
component of the Marketing Education program is a social
and academic club activity administered through the Distributive
Education Clubs of America, a national association for
Marketing Education students. Students elect club officers,
vote for state officers and compete in local, state,
and national events. Students are involved in community
service projects and raise funds for various club activities
including an employer-employee banquet. Students are
required to join DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of
America), a student leadership organization.
Fees and course titles
may differ at Associate Schools. Please consult your home
school counselor for details.
