and technical skill advancement through skill competitions and activities at the local,

Family, Career and Community
Leaders of America
Family, Career and Community Leaders of
America, Inc. (FCCLA) is a nonprofit national
career and technical student organization for
young men and women enrolled in or who have
completed courses in family and consumer
sciences education. FCCLA is the only student
youth organization with family as its central
focus. The mission of FCCLA is to promote
personal growth and leadership development.
Focusing on the multiple roles of family member,
wage earner and community leaders, members
develop skills for life through: character
development; creative and critical thinking;
interpersonal communication; practical
knowledge; and vocational preparation.

Clubs of America
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America)
is a student organization that stresses
leadership,
service, and skill development for students
in the
Marketing Education program. Through participation
in this student run club, members
have the
opportunity to participate in a variety
of activities
and competitions on the local, state,
national and
international levels. A highlight of the
school year
is the club sponsored blood drive that
has received
recognition from the American Red Cross.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is
a
national student organization for the development

VICA
Skills USA, formerly known as V.I.C.A., is

professional and skill development organization
for students in trade, industrial, technical

health occupations programs, at both the
secondary and postsecondary levels. Through

program, students have an opportunity to

practice and refine technical and leadership
skills
through classroom activity and Skills USA
Championships events. These events are held
at
the local, state, and national levels and
give
students an opportunity to travel and network
with
other students. Participation in Skills
USA is
supported by the workforce and viewed highly
by
many employers when included on a students
resume.

Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society
(NTHS) is a non-profit, educational organization
founded in 1984 to reward excellence in
career
and technical education. The Tri-Heights
Career
Prep Consortium received a charter from
NTHS
in 2000. Membership is extended to those
students who are recommended by the Career
Prep faculty and exhibit the qualities of
skilled
workmanship, honesty, responsibility,
leadership,
citizenship and scholastic achievement
(minimum
accumulative grade point average 3.00).
Induction
is during the second semester of each
school year.
Members participate in a number of service
activities at the school and in the community.
