This verse rings true for many people. Get wise, "Fashionize," with the "new look" skirt, colored hose to match the attire, short, boxy jackets and extremely feminine or tailored blouses.
In sewing classes we hear bits of conversation from the throats of young beauties, screeching to the ceiling, "Diane Reiter, I don't want it that long and I won't wear grey stockings with it."
There is a continuous controversy between Alice Demerjean and Joan Blumenthal regarding the length of Alice's newly made dress.
Silence, overcasts the room when suddenly, "Pat DuChant, they are showing scalloped
necklines this season." Of course Mrs. Marjorie Beck and Mrs. Dorothy Ricke, sewing
teachers, are quite used to this commotion and think little of the anecdotes regarding the wearing of gold shoes this summer by Arlene Sternberg and Norma Kaufman.
During the winter Natalie Simon kept warm by wearing her skirt about eight inches
from the floor. Mitzi Freedman, Aileen Schwartz, and Audrey Sewart found it difficult
not to split a seam stretching for a higher step than their skirts would allow.
Students who have put a boycott on long skirts are Boots Slessinger and Renee Saltzman.
Straight from Fifth Avenue comes the latest fashion news. . .
Grey, purple, and brown take top honors for the gam covers. With left-overs from the earlier season, we'll know what a fellow means when he sings, "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows."
For spring coiffeur stylists insist upon short locks. So if you are one of those old fashioned Gibson gals get hep to the new look and those soft baby locks.
The Crew Look, the New Look, has arrived at Heights. Ever since spring blew into town Heights students have been flocking to their favorite barber (better known as butchers) to have this delicate operation performed. Hair here falls out faster than rain. The moulting season has arrived.
Like the old New Look, the crew look has many different styles. The one you see around school are: long, short, medium and ugh! Leading barbers reveal that soon many more new styles will be released to torture the public.
There are many opinions on why the crew look appears every spring. Many observers believe that the main reason this spring is jealousy of the New Look. Still others assert that there is nothing as soothing as breezes gently blowing over the scalp. A third group testifies that it induces those gorgeous soft waves that can only come from a $25 permanent. Surely this alone should send everyone hurrying to his barber.
We salute the butch, "Oh Mighty crew cut hairs to you."
