Building Wing Features New Social Room

The new addition now being created on the old parking lot will include a social room, an adult meeting room, two science laboratories, and 12 classrooms to be used for study hall purposes. It will not be ready for use, until September, 1950, according to an approximate date set by Principal E. E. Morley.

The social room will be larger than either one of the gyms. It will contain a small stage which will be used as the orchestra platform. A public address unit will be installed.

The social room will be available for programs at night, also during the lunch hour. Ping-pong tables will be set up for those not attending the noon movies. Space will available for dancing.

The new social room will be set aside for student or school activities on week-ends with someone from the recreational department in charge. It is to be nothing like a canteen, but it will be a place for boys and girls to get together.

Within the building will be an adult meeting room, a place where such clubs as the P.T.A. and other parent groups can meet at anytime. On weekends it is, however, exclusively reserved for the students.

Some of the 12 classrooms are to be used for study halls in order to eliminate cafeteria study halls completely. Until the enrollment increases in 1956-57, the new classrooms will not be equipped for regular instructional purposes.
