Radio Operators' Code Reaches Six States, Canada, Hawaii

Broadcasting in continental code to all parts of the country is the job of the Cleveland Heights high school Radio club which meets every Tuesday and Thursday under the direction of Myron Randall.

At present there are three licensed operators that receive and transmit messages that may reach any one of the 100,000 amateur radio stations. The Heights station, WROVE, has complete station equipment and is planning to install voice transmission by phone. Sheldon Sandlers, 127, Bob Lemmers, 110, and Mr. Randall have had communications from six states and Canada, while the greatest distance reached was Hawaii.

"Radio is an interesting field in which students have accomplished wonders and have used as a profession," said Mr. Randall. "The present chief engineer at WGAR is a former member of this club. Heights students interested in training for work of this sort come to my room, 117, any ninth period. We would like to get our group selected now so that next September we can start immediately."
