Fashion Echoes Moral Decline
Talk abounds of the falling family structure, our breakdown
in ethics and moral corruption, but perhaps no example of our failing system is more graphic than the shocking
imporpriety of today's dress. Witness the swift decay of modesty in but a decade:
Cleveland Heights High School Girl's Dress Code 1967-68
- Hair-should be clean and well-groomed. Extremes in hair
styling are not acceptable.
- Dresses and Skirts should be tailored that they do not
"ride up" immodesty when wearer is walking or sitting. It is recommended that a skirt length should be no
shorter than the top of the kneecap when wearer is standing.
- Sweaters that are tight-fitting are not appropriate for
school wear. A full slip must be worn under a
sheer sweater. Sweatshirts are not acceptable.
- Blouses that are sleeveless are appropriate only when the
armhole is tailored that the shoulder is covered and under clothing
is not visible. Blouses not acceptable
are those with low necks, wide necks, low back, etc.
- Make-up when used should be natural and inconspicuous.
Extremes such as conspicuous eyelines,
conspicuous eyeshadow and unusual lipstick color may not be worn.
