In the Veterans' Experience Video section, you can download video files (RealPlayer plug-in required) and see veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam reflect on their wartime experiences. The Timeline of America's Wars area has brief synopses of wars in which the United States has been involved from the 18th century to the present.
Memorial Day The United States established Memorial Day to honor those who died in service to the nation. This site from David Merchant, a former U.S. Navy officer, provides information about the history of Memorial Day, which was first proclaimed in May 1868.
