Goal: Create a power point on birth defects which includes all the bulleted points.
   
Assignment
  The dream of all expectant parents is that their baby arrive healthy. Explore the causes of birth defects and ways that they can be prevented. Present your information in the form of a powerpoint.
  Instructions for your PowerPoint presentation (for a printable verison of these instructions, click here)
  1. “Select” a birth defect from the stack of 3x5 note cards
  2. Use the seven resources given on the computer direction sheet plus any others that you locate with accurate information to create a power point to be used when you present that birth defect to your classmates
  3. The completed power point must include the following slides:
    * Title slide (defect; your name; date completed)
    * Description of the defect (content area)
    * Cause of defect/who can get it (race or gender etc.)? Percent of babies born with it each year.(content area )
    * How detected (techniques used/before birth/after birth/several years later) (content area)
    * Prevention (content area)
    * Correction/Treatment/when? (content area)
    * Life expectancy/ Necessary adaptations (content area)
    * Possible impact on family
    * Works Cited slide(s) using MLA format (green information sheet located in library)
  4, Each day before end of class send an email to P_Fuller@chuh.org abriefly stating what you accomplished that day.
  5. Save your completed PowerPoint in you own folder as well as in the Fuller-Parenting share folder so it can be transferred to the classroom laptop for presentation.
  6. Score your work using the Score Sheet and email it with your final email. Click the link to get the score sheet
  7. Present your information to the class at your assigned time.
