Directions: Students enrolling in 9th grade Honors English for the 2008-2009 school year

A. All Students must read the following title:
  Night Elie Wiesel
  Night Assignments: Complete a reader's response journal for Night.

Write one or two paragraphs on each of the following topics:

Before the Germans

After the Germans
c.
Deportation
d.
First day selection
e.
Death march
f.
Final reflection
 
B. Read two of the following books:
 
Title
Author
  Copper Sun Draper, Sharon
  Nickel and Dimed, or Not Getting by in America Ehreich, Barbara
  The Pact: Three Young Men Make a Promise Davis, Sampson, George Jenkins and Rameck Hunt
  1. Assignment: Prepare to demonstrate your understanding of the two books. Both books must be read by Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
An essay, a creative project, a presentation and/or a test may be assigned for both books.

Remember to read the books! The Summer Reading assignments will be worth at least 5% of your first marking period grade.
