Mosaic Experience
Mr. Stephens

World History Classes

Why is History important?

(History) education must provide the flame which illuminates that truth.

Without it we face the equal danger that the past will become the same country as the present rather than inseparably connected to it, and that the new century will witness repeat performances of our past mistakes.

- Janet Holmes
"Welcome to the Mosaic Experience's World History Page. After reading through the course descriptors on this page click on the Assignment Web Site link to visit our course specific information links. The Assignment Page and choices given on the subsequent pages allow students greater latitude and support in their journey to become a citizen of the world."

This ninth grade Social Studies Course is dedicated to not only acquiring the knowledge necessary to do well on World History portion of College Board Exams, and the minimum ninth grade Social Studies Standards as outlined by the Ohio Department of Education to pass the World History portion of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT), but to offer the students in these classes the opportunity to understand the meaning of being a good citizen.

We are dedicated to the belief that to build a strong future, we all need to have touched and have an understanding of the present and the past.

We further believe that past experiences- both ancient and modern - drive the decisions which impact our future.

The format of Mr. Stephens' Mosaic World History Classes are rooted in the Engaged Instructional Model, project-based activities, computer use, the internet, and collaborative study.

Access to and the use of a computer is instrumental to student success. We will be in either the Mosaic or Media Center Computer Computer Lab as much as possible. The Mosaic Computer Lab will also be open after school until 3:45 PM for student use. Students may request lunch passes to the CHHS Media Center Computer Lab. The Cleveland Heights and University Heights libraries' computer stations are also available for student use.
