In the Cleveland Heights-Univeristy Heights City School Ditrict, the library/media centers support, expand, and enrich the curriculum in all subject areas and in a variety of formats. The media specialists are dedicated to working with classroom teachers to help students meet academic content standards in all subject areas. The library/media centers enhance the traditional classroom textbooks by providing students with additional print, non-print, and electronic resources and in a balanced collection, reflecting the needs of the academic requirements and assignments. The library/media center staffs assist students to gain skill in finding information and create curriculum based projects, both as individuals and team members. By meeting curricular needs of students, the library media center program encourages students to become life-long learners and information/knowledge seekers. Through the extensive variety of high interest media provided, the students discover the enjoyment of pleasure reading and the use of practical, relevant technologies, and will instill these activities as a vital elements of their lives.

Goals

The program will provide student with high interest activities that foster appreciation for literature, information and pleasure reading as life long learning skills.

The program will provide students opportunities to use creative and critical thinking in the research required in resource-based learning projects.
