The Alternative Learning Environment (A.L.E.) is an alternative to suspension for students. Students may be placed in A.L.E. for a variety of reasons. The key difference between A.L.E. and suspension is that the student does not miss classwork and assignments and the ALE teacher is there to provide instruction.
A.L.E. Rules & Procedures
1. Teachers provide assignments while students are in A.L.E.
2. Students must bring the following items to A.L.E.- all books, pen, pencil, paper, additional reading materials and lunch/lunch money.
3. Upon arriving to school, students get their materials from their lockers and report immediately to the ALE room 011.
4. Students are required to sign in and follow the ALE rules.
5. Students will eat lunch in the ALE room. Restroom and drinking fountain breaks will be limited and escorted.
6. All work must be completed to the teacher's standanrds and expectations. Tests and quizzes will be administered in ALE.
7. All work must be completed in ALE. No assignments will be taken home.
8. All extracurricular activities are off limits while in ALE. Students must leave school immediately upon dismissal.
9. Any absence must be approved by a phone call from a parent or legal guardian. Any absence will be automatically made up in ALE on the first day the student returns to school.
10. Failure to observe any of the ALE requirements or any school rules are reason to add more days to the stay, or be suspended out-of-school. This decision will be made by an administrator with the advisement of the ALE teacher.
