JAZZ CLUB

The Roxboro Jazz Club is one of the most popular extra curricular courses. The Jazz Club is open to all grade levels. Once the club roster is assembled, the club meets twice a week after school from November through May.

Jazz Club gives our instrumental music students the unique opportunity of playing music in a much different style than that of the traditional concert band or wind ensemble setting. Emphasis on swing, fusion and Afro/Cuban musical literature is explored as well as the introduction of instruments not normally found in concert bands or wind ensembles(electric keyboards, drumsets and conga drums). This type of music also gives the student the chance to read more challenging syncopated rhythms and dissonant harmonies.
