Power of the Pen
Power of the Pen is a creative writing team for middle school students. Participants compete against other schools in a district, regional, and state competition. Their writing is judged on the merits of creativity and quality. Individual and team awards are given in the form of journals, trophies, savings bonds, and published work.
TRYOUT DATES 06/07 October 12th, 19th, 26th: 2:45-3:30 in room 108
Tryouts for Power of the Pen are held at the end of September and the season runs from October to May. Practices are held after school on Thursdays from 2:45-3:15. During practices, team members work on developing different elements of narrative and descriptive writing, including: plot and character development, point of view, figurative language, and sensory images.
